Dr.-Ing. Christian Schaller (CEO)


Dr.-Ing. Christian Schaller graduated from the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He holds both a PhD and a diploma in computer science. While working on his PhD he was a member of the International Max Planck Research School for Optics and Imaging, Erlangen. During his education at university he has worked for the Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits, Erlangen and spent one year at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, NJ, USA as a graduate student researcher. At Metrilus he is responsible for general management, business development and marketing.

Dr.-Ing. Michael Balda (CTO)


Dr.-Ing. Michael Balda holds a Bachelor and Master of Science degree in Computational Engineering and a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nuremberg. His Ph.D. research at the Friedrich Alexander University's Pattern Recognition Lab focused on the topic 'Quantitative Computed Tomography'. He worked at Opticom GmbH and Siemens Healthcare in Erlangen, Germany and at Siemens Corporate Research in Princeton, USA. At Metrilus he takes care of R&D and product lifecycle management.

Simon Placht (Head R&D)


Simon Placht graduated from the Friedrich-Alexander-University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. He holds a diploma in information and communication technologies. During his studies he focused on signal processing and pattern recognition. From 2009-2010 he was employed as intern and working student at Siemens Oncology Care Systems (Erlangen, Germany) in the field of medical image processing. Besides his activities at Metrilus, he is also working on a PhD degree at the Pattern Recognition Lab of the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. At Metrilus he is responsible for software development and basic research.
